Gin Li(ly) Chang

Bay Area native, Gin’s diversity in hobbies and interests have always revolved around the human body. That would explain her two Bachelor Degrees in Kinesiology from San Francisco State in Exercise Science and Biomechanics.

Not only have her experiences as a competitive Figure Skater, Dancer, Snowboarder, Volleyball Player and Surfer helped her evolve into a diverse trainer, but her fascination with the kinesthetics of the human body has continued to increase her knowledge about the capability, mechanics and results of proper human movement.

Her journey began at the Presidio Sport & Medicine back in 1999 working in pre and post rehabilitation in mainly tri-athletes, marathon runners, and cyclists. Following the line of sports related rehabilitation, Gin also had an opportunity to work in the Sports Therapy Department at Pacific Bell Park with injured professional athletes from the White Sox and Orioles teams. Early on she learned the importance of functional training.

This naturally led to the transition of becoming a Fitness Instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine, and a certified Pre/Post Natal Fitness Instructor through the American Council on Exercise. As a trainer, Gin has worked with all different age and fitness levels specializing in Sport Specific Off Ice Training for Figure Skaters. Last year, her 3rd placement in the 2005 San Jose Bodybuilding & Figure Competition also helped increase Gin’s wealth of knowledge about how the human body can adapt to training and nutrition.

Along with over a decade of coaching Figure Skating, Gin continues to perform with the American Ice Theatre at numerous events in San Jose such as the seasonal Downtown Ice, the Annual Holiday Parade and selected Sharks games.

Not only does she aide in the longevity of the human life, but Gin is also currently studying to become a Paramedic.
